The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $30.09 – $45.17. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc. **This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. We support patients throughout their birthing process and care for them in our obstetric emergency department: 10 labor rooms, 13 post-partum rooms, and 2 operating rooms._ **Job Summary** This position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the obstetrical operative patient and/or her infant. **Essential Functions** + Arrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team. + Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment. + Assist in preparation and moving of patients. + Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover. + Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images. + Maintain unit supplies by requisitioning and receiving supplies then stocking patient rooms and supply areas to meet patient care needs. Inventory control. + Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives. + Performs other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** **Education** + Required: High School Diploma or equivalent + Required: Accredited Program Surgical Technology or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist **Experience** + Preferred: Minimum of 1 year Experience as a surgical technologist with obstetrical and gynecologic surgeries + Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs **Credentials** + Required: Surgical Technician - Washington + Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist + Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support **Skills** + Well organized, detail oriented and self motivated (Required) + Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others (Required) + Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision (Required) + Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications (Required) + Understanding of operating room protocols (Required) **Department / Location Specific Notes** **Working Conditions** Lifting + Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH). + Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures. + Ability to move around area with occasional sitting. + Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping. + Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs. + Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force. Occasional up to 30 lbs. force. Environmental Conditions + Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles. + Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. + Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting. Mental/Visual + Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted). + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
