The Occupational Health Coordinator reports directly to the Occupational Health Director. The successful candidate holds an active RN license.
The Occupational Health Coordinator will be responsible for providing expertise to the onsite nursing staff for the care of injuries, act as a resource for assistance with work comp, daily compliance issues, and other items that affect the onsite care role.
Works closely with the Occupational Health Director to continue to develop initiatives and programs to support the nurses and our worker population.
The position is full time Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with on-call hours, as needed, for consultation with Division-level nurses and safety coordinators.
Responsibilities• Provide on-site assistance to Division-level nurses for medical surveillance, program support, and the support of their occupational health nurse role.
• Perform auditing and compliance checks at occupational health sites.
• Ensure medical program compliance.
• Develop, interpret, and carry out SDI medical procedure practices and policies with the Occupational Health Director.
• Assist in developing and planning the Steel Dynamics Employee Wellness Program with the Occupational Health Director.
• Oversee medical training and surveillance: hearing conservation, bloodborne pathogen training, etc.
• Assist Occupational Health Director in assuring OSHA log medical recordkeeping requirements are met.
• Maintain membership to professional organizations to remain current on industry trends and current policies and practices with the Occupational Health Director.
• Work closely with the Occupational Health Director, Division-level nurses, and safety coordinators to recognize hazards and prevent injury.
• Assist with Update of Policy Programs as needed.
• Support Occupational Health Director with projects and administrative duties.
Required:
• Active RN license
• 2 or more years of hospital or clinic nursing experience
• 1 or more years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, and/or occupational environment.
• Excellent assessment skills in a clinical setting.
• Phlebotomy skills.
• Working knowledge of regulatory areas (ADA, OSHA, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation).
• Travel, frequent.
• May not be related to another employee at the Steel Dynamics Corporate Office.

Preferred:
• Current CPR/AED certification
• CPR/AED Instructor
• Health coaching/certification
• Certified Occupational Health Nurse
