Occupational Health Nurse (Full Time On-Site)

Lilly is currently constructing a Next Generation Biotech Drug Substance Manufacturing Facility in Limerick, Ireland. This facility will be Lilly’s most technically advanced manufacturing site and will include next-generation manufacturing technologies and advanced data collection and analysis platforms that will deliver improvements in safety and quality, and increased productivity and process performance.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join the dedicated Health, Safety Environmental (HSE) Team and lead the establishment of a new occupational health department at our new manufacturing site.

Position Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified occupational health professional to join Lilly and lead the establishment of a new occupational health department.

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the occupational health programs and services that promote the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees in line with Lilly policies and procedures.

Primary duties & responsibilities

This role is responsible for implementing and providing a comprehensive and proactive range of occupational health & well-being services while overseeing and managing the administrative and operational activities of occupational health services.

Promote and provide best practice and deliver health care services to employees within an occupational health setting, to assist ill and injured employees to reach maximum health and productivity.

Have excellent communication skills, flexible to the needs of the growing organisation, the ability to work independently as well as part of a team and to be able to interact positively at all levels of the organisation are necessary prerequisites.

Assure compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical operations.

Responsible for securing and developing all medical records, equipment, and programs related to occupational health services, and for setting up the department to achieve SEQOHS accreditation.

Implementing an occupational health software system to ensure compliance and meet business needs, including the development of reports and metrics.

Always maintain employee and medical confidentiality.

Develop and review Occupational Health Policies and Procedures in line with Global Employee Health services, local legislation, business changes and audit requirements.

Work in a multi-disciplinary team with HSE, HR, area management and external agencies to promote employee health, safety and well-being.

Arrange and deliver health surveillance programme in line with hazards identified within the work environment and in line with Eli Lilly operating standards. Interpret results and provide regular trending analysis to management.

Case management, consulting with OHPs, GPs and other health care professionals  where appropriate.

Participate in incident/ accident investigation with area management and HSE and ensuring occupational health standards are maintained.

Plan and coordinate Lilly wellness and health promotion programs and facility.

Management of and co-ordination of First Aid Programme, to include co-ordination of training, audit reviews of team requirements and equipment.

Maintains a thorough understanding of Lilly’s policies and procedures.

To keep abreast of new developments in occupational health and legislative changes.

Accountability

The OHN has responsibility for ensuring that he/she always applies high professional and ethical standards.

Practices within the parameters of professional licensure to ensure consistency with legal, regulatory and corporate requirements.

Educational/Experience Requirements

The OHN will hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety. (Will consider experienced and currently working towards an Occupational Health qualification).

Registered General Nurse with a valid NMBI registration.

The OHN will have a minimum of 3 years post registration OH experience and a minimum of one year within a manufacturing/pharmaceutical setting is desirable.

The OHN will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work in a busy OH setting. Have excellent report writing and IT skills.

Competency in audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, phlebotomy, VDU, ergonomics & administration of vaccines

Excellent communication skills with strong interpersonal, empathy and listening skills.

Strong organisational and planning skills including time management with proven track record of prioritising key tasks and delivery to a high professional standard.

Strong team member with proven ability to establish and maintain effective working people relationships.

Certificate in First Aid and Manual Handling Instructor Training desirable but not required.
