Occupational Health Nurses

Lumwana Mining Company is seeking to recruit  highly committed employees for the position of Occupational Health Nurses to join the versatile Occupational Health and Safety department Team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene Coordinator, the Occupational Health Nurse will work closely with the Occupational Health Doctors and other Occupational Health personnel to provide high quality care to all Lumwana Mine employees and partners as well as other stakeholders. They will be the first point of contact for all employees and business partners accessing occupational health services at Lumwana Mine.

Your duties will include but not limited to the following:

Ensure administrative duties such as registering clients, entering information on the electronic health record system are done timely and correctly. Assist clients with completing documentation as required for the occupational health examinations. Triage clients by checking vital signs and conducting weight and height checks and assisting in conducting musculoskeletal screening tests. Must demonstrate competence in effectively using the spirometer, audiometer and vision equipment and ability to understand the parameters of abnormal readings. Ensure all OH screening results are uploaded on the Electronic Health Records System and/or signed, dated and filed in the correct client’s medical folder. Ensure that OH client files are complete and have necessary documentation present – like consent forms, pre-employment, periodic and exit screening & examination, laboratory results, and any diagnostic testing, any fitness to work certificates and injury on duty reports and follow-up assessments – before being presented to the OH doctor. Ensure that all follow up visits for client assessments are carried out in a timely manner. Carry out otoscopic examinations prior to audiometry testing, once trained to do so. Continually demonstrate adherence to the Infection Control Policy. All other tasks as directed by the supervisors

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

Grade 12 School Certificate. Diploma in Registered Nursing Training in occupational health nursing with certification would be an advantage Training in Audiometry, Spirometry and Vision testing with appropriate certification will be an asset Current practicing license Member of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia 5 years’ work experience Able to work with minimum supervision Computer literacy Good management and communication skills Team player Good observation and analytical skills
