Occupational Health Technician

Job Summary: The COH Occupational Health Technician is part of a multi-disciplinary team that conducts medical assessments on employees to determine their current level of health in relation to their workplace exposure.  The Occupational Health Technician assists with employee health issues related to injury care, respiratory wellness, hearing ability, visual capabilities, drug and alcohol testing and medical surveillance related to OSHA, Center for Disease Control, Department of Transportation, and other regulatory body guidelines. Performs medical services inclusive but, not limited to, EKG's, pulmonary function testing, venipuncture, vaccine administration and point of care testing.  

Education and Training:   Completion of and certification by a recognized or accredited Certified Medial Assistant Program preferred.  Must be able to obtain CAOHC (Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation) and NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) certification for the purpose of performing pulmonary function testing.  Must be able to complete and obtain breath alcohol and urine drug screening collection training and certification in accordance with Department of Transportation requirements.  

Experience and Knowledge:  5-7 years of Medical Assistant experience in lieu of certification or more recent MA certification and occupational health experience with CAOHC and NIOSH pulmonary function testing certification required

Registration, Licensure and/or Certification:  Certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant preferred.
