Occupational Lung Center Manager -- Occupational Lung Center -- General-600 Morris St.

Job Summary

Provide administrative oversight and direction to the long-range planning and daily operations of the Occupational Lung Center. Responsible for budget development and oversight, quality improvement processes, customer service, and patient care services.

 

Responsibilities

• Responsible for long-range planning for the department based on types of services required by the West Virginia Workers' Compensation Division and other clients. • Ensure the provision of comprehensive state-of-the-art pulmonary services. • Manage the staff in the provision of services. Responsible for hiring, performance, planning, and disciplinary actions. Ensure the staff are competent to perform their job assignments. Demonstrate positive staff relations. Schedule staff from other departments appropriately to provide contracted services. • Ensure customer satisfaction through service delivery to patients as well as report timeliness to requesting parties. • Manage the departmental quality process including the Performance Improvement Plan, competency validation and quality assurance monitoring and reports. • Develop and monitor the department budget. Offer recommendations for enhancing revenue and appropriately reducing expenses. • Exhibit excellent communication skills. Respond to and resolve customer service issues. • Participate on committees as assigned. • Responsible for supplies and inventory control. • Provide various reports as requested/required. • Responsible for the Department Policy and Procedure Manual. • Maintain department, institution, and licensure (if applicable) required education. Document appropriately. • Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations. • Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution. • Perform work in a cost effective manner. • CLINICAL DUTIES AS NEEDED: Performs timely, effective, accurate and safe administration of pulmonary function tests. a.Spirometry:Forced vital capacity and subdivision, bronchodilator administration. • Lung Volumes: Thoracic gas volumes or gas dilution methods. c. Airway resistance / conductance: perform manual adjustments to open/closed shutter d. Single breath carbon monoxide diffusion capacity • Perform system calibration and verification. • Perform quality control-pulmonary diagnostic systems. • Perform steady state exercise with ECG monitoring and pulse oximetry. • Perform 12 lead elecenterocardiograms • Perform bronchial challenge testing. • Assist physicians with interpretation of results. • Monitor reference values • Arterial puncture-single stick or cannulation • Local anesthesia administration for arterial punctures. • Interpret blood gas analysis and evaluate patients with chest pains & make recommendations to physician(s). • Evaluate patients' need for supplemental oxygen during visit to OLC. • Identify any adverse patient response to procedures. • Perform timely and accurate cacdlulating / reporting of test results. • Review outside diagnostic data for OP Boards • Provide technical training for respiratory therapy students as necessary. • Provide technical training for residents, interested physicians, and attorney groups. • Provide technical training for insurance commission as needed. • Provide expertise to staff technologists in difficult cases. • Recalculate pulmonary data to required reference values for attorneys when requested. • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

Perform related duties as assigned.
