This is an executive position (no union affiliation) and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage. DEPARTMENT: Office of the Municipal Manager HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm; varies LOCATION: 632 W 6th Avenue Example of Duties Responsible for the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) Occupational Safety and Health Program. Develop and implement MOA-wide policies and procedures. Disseminate written policies and procedures and provide employee training. Monitor MOA-wide occupational safety and health compliance systems to ensure their effectiveness. Conduct periodic self-inspections of occupational safety and health compliance systems, as well as, conduct or direct the internal investigation of occupational safety and health issues or complaints. Prepare periodic management reports regarding occupational safety and health compliance operations and progress. Perform other required duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, and twelve (12) years of experience in public program development, implementation, and/or administration. OR Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Political Science, Public Relations, Planning, Engineering, or a related discipline and ten (10) years of experience in public program development, implementation, and/or administration. OR Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Political Science, Public Relations, Planning, Engineering, or a related discipline and eight (8) years of experience in public program development, implementation, and/or administration. OR Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Political Science, Public Relations, Planning, Engineering, or a related discipline and six (6) years of experience in public program development, implementation, and/or administration. All candidates must possess and or obtain: + Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire. Preferences: + Knowledge of: OSHA Standards for Industrial Safety, Utility Safety Program, Municipal Code, State of Alaska and federal laws pertaining to occupational safety and health, EPA code, worker's compensation regulations, DOT regulations, Department of Homeland Security advisories. + Professional certifications in: (CSP) Certified Safety Professional; (ASSP) American Society of Safety Professionals certification; (CIH) Certified industrial Hygienist certification; (CHST) Construction Health and Safety Technician; and (OHST) Occupational health and safety technician.
