Clayton NC The Occupational Safety Specialist III implements, audits, and oversees all safety programs and processes, policies, communication efforts, reporting, administration and accident prevention in accordance with all internal company policies and guidelines, and all regulatory standards. **Responsibilities for role** **:** + Leads all Process Safety Management (PSM) duties on site. + Investigate reported near hits, analyze and trend data, and facilitate resolution of issues. + Participate in investigation teams performing post-incident reviews of incidents/injuries. Follow up to ensure appropriate resolution. + Monitor contractor safety throughout the site. + Administer site supplied PPE programs such as prescription safety glasses, protective safety shoes, respirators, fall protection and hard hats. + Oversee site Hazard Communication program and ensure it reflects current inventory of chemicals on site. + Present educational training programs and workshops. + Coordinates ergonomic program. + Represent Occupational Safety Department during site shutdown activities. + Coordinate safety logistics for Clayton facilities. + Support the Emergency Response Team. + Develop and utilize subject matter expertise in one of the following safety disciplines: Industrial Hygiene, Construction/Contractor Safety, or Biosafety. + Lead investigation teams conducting post-incident reviews of incidents/injuries. Follow up to ensure appropriate resolution are entered into the electronic incident management system (e.g. Enablon). + Lead initiatives and improvement projects that improve sites overall safety results. + Complete and publish established monthly safety KPIs and reports. + Develop training programs, workshops, and e-learnings as required by regulation or safety performance. + Provide support of annual Shutdown activities including JHA and other permitting, confined space entry oversight, coordinating signage, and daily safety walkthroughs. + Develop and utilize proficiency on OSHA regulations and industry best practices. + Communicate Safety information via Portal updates, electronic safety boards, flash bulletins, and attendance at team meetings. + Collaborate with project teams to identify safety and health specifications and design requirements including those with the highest complexity. + Analyzes safety improvement areas and provide recommendations and solutions for implementation. + Benchmark safety best practices and implement changes to improve safety performance. + Perform trend analysis and analytics of all available safety data to identify and mitigate risks prior to the occurrence of injuries. + Maintain site safety policies and procedures based on current regulatory requirements. Exposure to Biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear and gloves. Exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 4-6 hours per day. Frequent movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Color perception/discrimination required. Occasionally walks. Often performs duties standing. Occasionally bends and twists neck and waist. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 35lbs. Frequently drives to other facilities.
