Occupational Therapist

Salary Range: $44.35 - $61.13

Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.

Position Summary:

This position reports to the Director of Rehabilitation Services. The staff occupational therapist plans, coordinates and implements patient care on the assigned units.  Ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit’s standards of care. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical; treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life-span and the skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Is able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age-specific needs and provide the care needed by the patient group. Must work well under stress or tight deadlines. Must work well with supervisors, co-workers, patients/residents, family members and visitors.

Position Duties/Responsibility:

Performs evaluations of patients Performs treatment of patients Maintains current documentation of patients progress/complaints Communicates with physicians regarding patient care Responsible for set up of treatment area and clean up following treatment  Able to interpret data from all areas of patient chart when determining patient needs Communicates with patient and family regarding therapy goals and needs prior to discharge Seeks continuing education appropriate to maintain up to date skill levels Delegates care to occupational therapy assistant and maintains proper supervision of patient care Co-signs all documentation when appropriate Able to utilize the computerized charting system. Position Competencies. Other duties assigned by a supervisor/director.

Essential Functions:

The ability to maintain a valid California OT license and CPR certification. The ability to maintain a valid California driver’s license and be insurable through the District’s courier or the ability to get between the facilities to perform duties at both facilities. The ability to participate in all elements of performing Occupational Therapist job duties including gripping, grasping, bending, pushing and pulling. The ability to stand or walk for prolong periods of time. The ability to keyboard and use various computer programs. The ability to be supervised. The ability to work as a Team. The ability to have positive personal interactions with staff, patients/residents and visitors.

Position Qualifications:

Education: OT with current valid  California license. Experience: One year acute or OP Rehabilitative experience, new graduate may be considered.                Cert/License: Current/valid OT License, CPR Certification required from the American Heart Association and California Drivers license. Skills/Ability: Knowledge of occupational therapy treatment to patients of all ages.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Exhibits the ability to organize work assignments and follow through with accuracy; exercise good judgment; demonstrate initiative, emotional stability, tact and poise.
