Occupational Therapist

Location:         Merion Station, Philadelphia and Coatesville, PA

Status:             Full time

Shift:                Mon - Fri, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (No nights, holidays, or weekends)

Position Purpose:

Provide occupational therapy evaluation and treatment for participants in PACE programs, nursing homes, or in-home settings.

Position Details:

This position will provide services for 2 religious communities and a new PACE program. 

Mercy LIFE McAuley provides residential and nursing support for the Sisters of Mercy at Merion Station and for the Jesuit Fathers residing in Manresa Hall. Shifts at Manresa will be worked as needed.  The two locations are just minutes apart.

The position will also cover Mercy LIFE at Chester County, a new PACE program opening in Coatesville, PA. 

Typically, 3 days a week will be spent with the religious communities and 2 days with the PACE program.

What you will do:

Perform in-person comprehensive occupational therapy assessment for initial acceptance, including problem identification and care planning.

Conduct assessment and coordination of home modification program including installation of equipment and other changes to support independence and safety.

Provide treatment to participants and implement occupational therapy procedures consistent in achieving identified goals, grade activities to facilitate goals, and confer with the Interdisciplinary Team on participants' care issues.

Assist in the ordering, inventory, distribution and maintenance of durable medical equipment to participants.

Carry out accepted principles and practices of occupational therapy for prevention of functional decline, sensory and cognitive limitations, increase maintenance of strength and endurance, and provides treatment to increase self-care skills.

Train family members, other caregivers, and staff in methods to maximize safety and functional abilities in performing Activity of Daily Living (ADL) skills.

Evaluate charts and reports on participants' progress, document occupational therapy notes in the participants' medical record according to the charting requirements.

Direct, supervise, perform initial and annual competencies on, and assist department manager with evaluating the performance of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program.

Current, unencumbered, active occupational therapy license in the state of PACE Organization.

Two (2) years of appropriate experience as an occupational therapist preferred.

Valid driver's license and use of personal vehicle

Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with MS Office.

Must manage conflict well, have high decision-making quality and flexibility to adapt to ongoing change.

Ability and skills to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the organization in line with our mission, vision, and philosophy.

Position will require 10% of travel within the Centers geographic region due to the number of locations being supported.
