Overview
POSITION PHILOSOPHY:
T.C. Harris is a residential facility providing therapeutic and educational services to children, adolescents and young adults with developmental disabilities, autism, and emotional disturbances. Because of their disabilities, our students require continuous, close proximity supervision while engaging in their daily living activities. We train our staff to use proper interventions and therapeutic approaches while supervising our students. The primary function of the OT at T.C. Harris School is to facilitate student growth and education in the academic setting. This is achieved through evaluation, individual and group therapy, observation, report writing, IEP goal setting/progressing, and participation in student-related meetings [IEP, treatment review].
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide support T.C. Harris Education Team to plan, organize, and conduct occupational therapy treatment for children in Special Education ages 6-21.
2. Provide direct occupational therapy services in accordance with the students’ mandated IEP and service goals
3. Therapy is with the goal to improve, develop, restore, or maintain a child's active participation in self-maintenance, work, leisure, and play in education environments.
4. Work with students to develop functional skills, allowing them to succeed in the classroom.
5. Conduct comprehensive evaluations as part of Special Education service determination.
6. Complete progress monitoring documentation such as daily notes
7. Serve as an IEP team member by attending meetings and submitting paperwork as needed to maintain compliance.
8. Ability to provide teletherapy or virtual therapy if needed.
9. Ability to use good judgment, make quick decisions, and use good problem-solving skills
10. Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English
11. Ability to maintain self-composure and self-control
12. Ability to comply with orientation requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from a school accredited by the American Occupation Occupational Therapy Association.Current Occupational Therapy license or the ability to obtain a license.School based therapy experience preferred.Strong communication skills and dedicated to working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team and support staff.Ability to be flexible and accommodating to changing school and student needs.Additional Information
Salary range: $80-90k, based on level of experience
