RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified full-time Occupational Therapist in Somerville, NJ

Qualifications:

Required:

Graduate of accredited program in Occupational Therapy at the Baccalaureate or post Baccalaureate level required.

Preferred:

Active membership in a professional organization is encouraged but not required.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

New Jersey board license and registration required.Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) required

Scheduling Requirements

Day Shift, 40 hours/weekFull Time Schedule

Essential Functions:

Advises referring physicians regarding patient orthotic needs and as indicated, provides for those needs, fabricating and / or fitting and monitoring orthotic devicesAdministers therapy treatments to patients following standard accepted therapy practice and policies and procedures of CORC,Develops appropriate discharge plans with patient and/or family and staffDevelops appropriate home therapy program and instructs patients and families in proper implementation; makes recommendations for therapeutic/adaptive equipment as indicated and instructs patients and families in their safe and effective useDocuments appropriate charges and necessary information on department billing sheet on a daily basisDocuments treatment provided in patient medical record in a timely mannerMaintains patient medical record as per accepted therapy practice and policies/procedures of CORCEvaluates/re-evaluates appropriate parameters on each patient using standard tests and procedures; records findings in the medical record and communicates same to referring physician and other members of the health care team as indicated in accordance with departmental and ACC policies and proceduresFormulates/implements plan of treatment/goals based on evaluation findings and in consultation with referring physician; records in medical record according to departmental/ACC policies/procedures and scope of practiceObserves and documents in the medical record the patient's treatment, response to treatment, progress and other changes; alters the treatment plan and goals as indicated in consultation with referring physician, and discusses changes regularly with members of the health care teamSupervises Therapy Assistants and clinical assistantsManages Student Program/schedules student placements and is point of contact with school ProgramsServes as a Liaison between staff and Department Leadership
