Key Position Details:

Join our dedicated team as an Occupational Therapist at Allina Health Orthopedics in the North Region! In this role, you will enhance patient care by supporting our hand surgeons and providing timely therapy for post-operative patients, including custom splint fabrication. With a focus on reducing wait times, you’ll ensure that patients receive the attention they need right after their surgical visits, helping them on their journey to recovery.

Job Description:

Provides care that is appropriate, efficient, and effective patient care meeting the customer’s requirements for Hand Therapy.

Principle Responsibilities

Provides Occupational Therapy services to clients.Initiates assessment of client per diagnosis and generates a therapy diagnosis for hand / upper extremity conditions.Designs, implements and modifies a therapeutic treatment plan and interventions based on client needs and response to care.Accommodates selection of tests and measures and therapeutic interventions based on age and cultural considerations.Consults with and involve client and family/caregiver to establish appropriate goals, timelines, and desired outcomes based on client impairment or functional limitations.Educates client, family members or others involved in care of treatment plan including age specific and cultural considerations.Continuously assesses needs of client and functional deficits, progress toward goals, and progressing plan of care based on established care guidelines.Uses re-examination to determine whether predicted outcomes are reasonable modifies as necessary.Selects and delegates appropriate tasks of the plan of care per professional guidelines.Initiates appropriate referrals to other disciplines and coordinates care with inter-disciplinary referrals.Coordinates, communicates, documents and bills per program, regulatory and professional standards.Uses communication techniques that reflect attention to age, cultural and population specific needs of the patient and family.Provides safe patient equipment, ensures personal safety and safe work environment.Promotes rehab services by ensuring patient and physician satisfaction.Participates in performance improvement and process improvement activities for the department.Supports and promotes new services as requested.Participates in clinical education and staff meetings.Provides ongoing input to enhance the services provided by the department.Assists co-workers in managing the teams’ productivity/performance targets.Manages their daily patient schedule.Assists in maintaining an efficient clinic flow including assisting with scheduling, cleaning rooms and laundry.Education and mentor clinicians.Develops and delivers professional practice and performance improvement activities specific to hand therapy.Assists or leads best practice development for hand therapy.Develops new programs as appropriate for hand therapy.Performs clinical orientation and mentoring for clinical competence for hand programs.Participates in peer interviewing related to area of specialization.Assists with hand therapy service development including supply review, chart audit tool and complete audits, annual clinical competency.Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program2 to 5 years experience in hand therapy


Licenses/Certifications

Licensed Occupational Therapist - MN Department of Health required if providing services in Minnesota upon hireLicensed Occupational Therapist - WI Dept of Safety & Professional Services required if providing services in Wisconsin upon hireBLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required within 60 Days


Physical Demands

Pay Range

Pay Range: $39.19 to $53.72 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
