Occupational Therapist II - Outpatient Peds
*_SUMMARY:_* We are currently seeking an*Occupational Therapist II*to join our outpatient pediatric team. This role will work at our downtown Clinic and Specialty Center location in our outpatient pediatric clinic. Shifts include 5 8-hour shifts but open to 4 10-hour shifts. This role will typically treat patients’ birth through 7 years of age, experience with infant development is preferred. Areas of coverage for this role may include collaboration with Lactation Specialists, Speech Pathologists, Physical therapists, and the Pediatric providers to address infant feeding, post NICU developmental assessment/intervention, sensory processing concerns, developmental delay, plagiocephaly/torticollis, ADHD, learning disabilities, autism, and post trauma. *Purpose of this position:*In collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, provides therapeutic services including evaluation, treatment, discharge planning and education.** *RESPONSIBILITIES:* * Performs and documents comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations * Develops and documents patient care plans to promote optimal function and safety * Observes, evaluates and documents patient’s progress * Participates in hospital rounds and patient care conferences * Educates patients and care gives on therapeutic techniques, cares and treatments * Completes all documentation and charges of services per departmental standards * Functions as a clinical instructor for occupational therapy students * Directs and supervises activities performed by the OT aides consistent with their training and skill (patient transfers, patient transport, preparation of patient and equipment for treatment, selected treatment procedures, clerical duties, and departmental maintenance) * Properly applies and operates rehabilitative equipment * Develops and conducts occupational therapy in-services for other staff * Orients and mentors newly assigned staff * Serves as a clinical resource for other staff * Participates in program development * Represents the occupational therapy department on committees and provides consultation to other departments and agencies as assigned * Assumes responsibilities of the supervisor as assigned during the supervisor’s absence * Provides work direction for clerical staff * Assists in monitoring the quality of occupational therapy activities and services * Functions as a resource for departmental policies and procedures *_QUALIFICATIONS:_* */Minimum Qualifications:/* * Graduation from an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by the American Medical Association * Minimum of 2 fulltime years of experience (4,160 hours) /*Preferred Qualifications:*/ * Previous clinical experience/rehabilitation experience * CPR certification * 2 year(s) of Pediatric Occupational Therapy * Experience and developmental training for birth to age 7 * Knowledge in feeding and infant handling in collaboration with interdisciplinary team or an interest in pursuing this area of intervention * Training in assessment and treatment of Torticollis or interest in pursuing this area of intervention * Committed to helping children improve critical functions of daily living, sensory integration, fine motor skills, visual perceptual skills, and feeding * Passion for peds and providing excellent care while working with diverse patient population * Ability to manage outpatient caseload, provide efficient and effective communication to the rest of the care team */Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:/* * Knowledge of policies/procedures and practice standards; occupational therapy theory, techniques, and treatment, physical therapy and orthopedic equipment; counseling and educational techniques; bandaging and wrapping techniques * Mental Health o Provide care that is trauma-informed, patient-centered, and culturally sensitive * Ability to perform professional occupational therapy techniques and treatment; calibrate and operate occupational therapy equipment * Ability to provide work direction for ancillary personnel * Ability to counsel and instruct patients and families; ability to recognize and document patient progress * Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the medical team * Ability to interact with individuals of widely diverse lifestyles including ability to deal objectively with individuals whose attitudes and behaviors differ from his/her own * Ability to read and interpret written instructions, patient charts, and physicians' notes * Ability to interpret policies and procedures in an advisory capacity (educate) /*License/Certifications:*/ * Certified or eligible for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification examination for Occupational Therapist, Registered.
