As an Occupational Therapist working with Adult Mental Health you will:
Provide occupational therapy services and treatments using current theory and evidence-based practice.Work in a team-based environment to develop, implement and evaluate occupational therapy services to clients.Consult, confer and/or collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in the promotion of quality improvement activities, interdisciplinary research and coordinating activities consistent with clinical best practices. QualificationsEducation & Experience
Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).Eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT).Three (3) years’ recent related clinical experience in mental health and substance use services, including one (1) year coaching or group facilitation experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a client-based and family centred model of care.Knowledge of CHCPBC standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners.Demonstrated knowledge of clinical practice related to the treatment and care of the designated client population.Demonstrated knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.Knowledge of VCH policies, procedures and standards of care.Knowledge of other health care professions and their role in client care.Knowledge of research methodology and related processes.Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor staffDemonstrated ability to develop educational materials and programs for the designated client population.Ability to promote a creative learning environment including ability to use critical thinking in teaching.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with individuals and/or groups.Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain rapport and working relationships with various stakeholders based on respect.Ability to develop and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities.Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.Demonstrated conflict resolution skills including ability to manage conflict issues.Ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
