Summary
Evaluates, plans, directs, and administers programs of Occupational Therapy (OT) and plans and conducts OT programs to restore function, prevent disability, and help patients reach their maximum level of independence. Provides assessment of the patient condition based on diagnosis from the referring physician. Develops and updates an appropriate plan of care in collaboration with patient and family to assist in returning them to their maximum level of function. Facilitates participation in everyday living. Improves and facilitates quality of life through prescribed exercise, hands on care, and patient education. Helps people regain or maintain their independence and lead active lives.
Job DutiesEstablishes and implements appropriate occupational therapy plans of care to restore function prevent disability and help patients reach their maximum performance level. Implements an individualized treatment plan through the use of skilled evidence based therapy techniques such as therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, functional mobility training, activities of daily living training, and modalities. Provides occupational therapy treatment consistent with the patient's needs assessment. Performs reassessment when indicated and modifies occupational therapy plans accordingly. Communicates patient progress and physical limitations to a supervisor, physician, and other team members. Implements an occupational therapy plan of care to individuals based on age specific and population specific needs utilizing a developmental and patient family directed approach. Provides supervision in accordance with regulatory requirements, as appropriate. Establishes an occupational therapy treatment plan with measurable goals and time frames. Provides cost effective care in accordance with departmental billing guidelines. Completes and submits all documentation based on policies/standards and regulatory requirements.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree Occupational Therapy Less than 1 year Successfully completed clinical experiences as required by the school program. Demonstrates sound clinical reasoning in synthesizing data gathered in the evaluation and identifying treatment diagnoses. Ability to work at various locations per diem. Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques. Must be able to communicate with patients, family, and co-workers in a friendly, supportive manner. Must be able to provide safe, compassionate, and competent occupational therapy treatments. Ability to travel to patient care assignments - Home Care only American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire OT - Licensed Occupational Therapist - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree Occupational Therapy or Doctorate Occupational Therapy 1 year Clinical experience required for Home Care.
Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
