Occupational Therapist - Temporary 

Bronx, NY 

Schedule: M-F, 9am to 5pm  

4 Week Assignment (mid July-mid August) 

FlexStaff is seeking a temporary Occupational Therapist for our client, a non-profit healthcare organization providing home and community-based healthcare and services for the elderly.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Evaluate referred participants and administer treatment plans  Complete assessments, progress notes, treatment notes, discharge summaries, and interdisciplinary notes.  Perform evaluations and treatments at the PACE site and in the field (home, nursing home, etc.).  Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow safety protocols.  Develop participant care plans, participate in care plan meetings, and adhere to regulations.  Document all required participant information (evaluations, progress notes, MDS, care plans, etc.).  Consult with physiatrist and other professionals as needed.  Maintain high standards of care through continuing education and professional development.  Participate in clinical education of student affiliates.  Provide clinical instruction to COTAs, Level I & II OT students, and student volunteers.  Recommend discharge equipment as appropriate.  Deliver in-service training programs.  Participate in Performance Improvement Monitoring.  Adhere to scope of practice and meet established competencies. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.  One year of OT experience and/or experience with the geriatric population preferred.  One year of experience with a frail/elderly population (or training provided upon hire).  Strong rapport-building skills with patients and staff.  Proficient in using all OT modalities/equipment.  Ability to travel to participant homes, nursing homes, and sites/clinics.  Knowledge of PACE regulations.  Familiarity with Care Compass and other EMRs preferred.  Current New York State Registered Occupational Therapist license.  Legally authorized to practice in the state.  Medically cleared for communicable diseases with up-to-date immunizations.  Bilingual proficiency preferred (depending on region).
