What you'll do The Occupational Therapist works directly with individuals to restore or improve physical abilities, promote behavioral changes, adapt surroundings, and/or teach new skills, to achieve optimal physical and/or mental functioning in daily life tasks. The Occupational Therapist may provide evaluation and treatment of patients in acute care, nursing home, short-term rehabilitation and/or outpatient settings. The Occupational Therapist oversees services provided by Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants and aides. They are required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary care team. They may assist in quality improvement and new programming initiative development. This position reports to the Rehab Manager and Director of Rehabilitation Services. Maintains licensure by obtaining required CEUs as determined by NYS Practice Act Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and Joint Commission (TJC) standards. Performs a comprehensive physical, psychosocial, and safety assessment as evidenced by clinical documentation. Identifies those functional problems that require occupational therapy intervention based on an accurate assessment of the patient's status. Must be capable of understanding and carrying out prescribed therapy services as requested by physicians and/or mid-level providers. Develops a plan of care to promote optimum function and safety, as documented in the clinical record. Completes all required paperwork documentation following treatment and procedures to and ensures that documentation reflects care provided and outcomes achieved. Demonstrates the ability to evaluate and treat the assigned number of patients per day, and determine the need for follow up visits to maximize the functional outcomes Maintains current knowledge and awareness of insurance regulations related to provision of therapy services Acts fiscally responsible in use & request of supplies, and in submitting patient charges in a timely manner. Excellent motor, hand, eye coordination and manual dexterity required Ability to handle and operate therapy equipment, including but not limited to: safe patient handling equipment, exercise machines, and/or modalities Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including but not limited to, Excel, Word, and Power Point, is preferred. Coordinates patient care with other clinical team members ensuring optimal patient care and communication Maintains and enhances personal and professional knowledge, as well as promotes professional standards in occupational therapy Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department’s ability to meet its goals and objectives. Additional duties as assigned What we need from you Education: Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college or university, required Experience: Experience as an Occupational Therapist prior to employment is preferred. New grads will be considered. License/ Certification: NYS License to practice OT, or a valid temporary permit as per NYSED licensing requirements, required BLS CPR - within 6 months of date of hire. Skills: Clinical Skills Communication Computer Skill Reading/Writing/Comprehension Creative Thinking Time Management Organizing/Categorizing records Attention to Detail Interacting with People Reading/Writing/Comprehension Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Occasional: balancing, climbing, crouching, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, fit testing. Frequent: typing/ clerical/ dexterity, grasping, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motion, seeing/ monitor/ computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking. Constant: hearing. Hazards: Occasional: bodily fluids/ bloodborne exposure. Working Conditions: Occasional: extreme temperatures. Pay Range Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. Pay Range Minimum: USD $81,140.80/Yr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $121,700.80/Yr.
