the Northeast and the Center for Education Simulation and Innovation CESI one of the most advanced medical simulation training centers in the world When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care expertise and new treatment options their patients require they turn to usOverviewUnder the supervision of the Occupational Therapist the Occupational Therapy Assistant COTA performs standardized assessments provides assistance in performing structured assessments and assists in determining revising and implementing the treatment plan in order to restore and remediate and to maximize function in the areas of activities of daily living leisurerecreation and productivitywork The Occupational Therapy Assistant COTA addresses dysfunction in psychosocial skills cognition and sensorimotor components ResponsibilitiesAssists the Occupational Therapist with aspects of patient assessment in the areas of activities of daily living leisureplay and productivitywork Identifies contributing factors in the areas of psychosocial skills cognition and sensorimotor components Recognizes physiological psychological and age related changes in the patient Assists with the planning of the Occupational Therapy plan of care implements treatment by utilizing appropriate interventions and age specific treatment through selected activities and interventions Collaborates with the Occupational Therapist to revise treatment when needed instructing patientfamily through verbal written and audiovisual materials and participating in discharge planning to meet patient needs throughout the continuum of careConfers with Occupational Therapist and consults with other members of the Health Care Team members and assesses progress toward goals in order to meet the needs of patientsDocuments all patient and professional interactions such as evaluations assessments progress toward goals and discharge summaries to maintain continuity of patient care for department
