Ocean Imports Coordinator
Job Overview: The Ocean Imports Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the import process of ocean freight shipments from origin to destination, ensuring timely and accurate delivery while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies. This role works closely with internal teams, customs brokers, carriers, and vendors to manage shipments, track cargo, and resolve any issues that may arise during the importation process. Key Responsibilities: + Coordinate all aspects of ocean freight imports, including scheduling, tracking, and managing shipments from overseas suppliers or ports. + Work with customs brokers to ensure proper documentation is prepared for the clearance of imports, including import manifests, bills of lading, and customs declarations. + Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including cost tracking, shipping schedules, and inventory status. + Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors to confirm shipping schedules, routing, and any changes in delivery timelines. + Resolve any issues related to shipment discrepancies, delays, or damages in coordination with the relevant parties. + Prepare and manage import reports, ensuring the timely and accurate submission of all import-related data. + Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and international import/export regulations and documentation requirements. + Support the creation of cost-efficient transportation solutions while maintaining high service levels. + Work with the inventory and warehouse teams to ensure proper receipt, storage, and movement of imported goods. + Assist in the continuous improvement of processes related to ocean imports, including cost control, efficiency, and compliance. Qualifications & Skills: + Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent work experience. + Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in ocean import coordination or logistics, preferably in a related industry.
