Job Description

  

Teledyne Marine -Vehicles is a member of a group of leading-edge undersea technology companies that have been assembled under the Teledyne Marine umbrella. We include Teledyne Benthos, Teledyne Webb Research, and Teledyne OceanScience on Cape Cod Massachusetts and Teledyne Gavia in Iceland.  Our products include underwater unmanned systems, enabling acoustic technology, and adjacencies in package inspection. Teledyne Marine Vehicles is seeking a North Falmouth, MA based Service Technician to join our unified service team for Slocum gliders. Duties include routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair for Slocum Gliders and repair support for our other Ocean product lines as needed  

Position may include some domestic and international travel to customer sites and other service offices. Must be able to travel if needed and be able to obtain a US passport. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Deliver Slocum service and support Answering technical inquiries from customers via website, email, text, phone, etc. Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex oceanographic equipment Documenting all repair activities accurately and writing clear and concise repair reports for customers.  Travel to customer sites for testing and service as required 

Qualifications/Requirements

Education/Experience 

5+ years of experience in a repair, technical support, or military technical training environment; Associate's degree or higher in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred or combination of experience and education Technical background with proven software, electrical, and electromechanical skills  Advanced troubleshooting & problem-solving techniques Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with strong interpersonal skills Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office products is essential: Excel, Word and Power Point. Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a “US Person” (US Citizens, US Nationals, lawful permanent residents, asylees or refugees) 

Preferred: 

Previous experience using Salesforce or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool Experience working closely with customers in sales, customer service, or technical capacity Ability to work as part of an extended team to identify, repair, and report on all isolated equipment failures.

Ability to handle and move equipment (up to 50 lbs.), at times long distances Ability to move around in oceanographic vessels and small boats (ladders, tight spaces) Ability to work in the field in adverse weather conditions and adverse working conditions Occasional work at non-standard work hours This position requires prolonged periods of standing and sitting in a repair lab setting.
