Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Oceania HSE Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in driving the continual improvement of our HSE management culture, standards, systems, and compliance across our operations in Australia and New Zealand. The successful candidate will provide hands-on leadership, strategic direction, and ensure all legal and other requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
HSE Systems and Processes:
Build, implement, monitor and continually improve Prysmian’s health, safety, and environment management reporting, standards, policies, procedures, and tools in line with statutory, regulatory, customer compliance and industry-relevant practices. This includes facilitating the Prysmian HSE governance forum, conducting site progress audits, and providing updates as required to the Site Management Team Group.Support Special Situations incidents by providing HSE related insights and advice, and ensuring where relevant investigation of incidents, closure of resultant actions and sharing of learnings.Integrate new business acquisition into Prysmian including Critical risk, IT, Lag and Lead Scorecard and Compliance register.Lead implementation of HQ new HSE Management System software.Contractor management implementation completion and continual improvement.Lone-worker implementation completion and continual improvement.Ensure ISO50001 internal audit and action plans completed for all sites.Prepare for ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 2025 re-certification audits across Oceania in 2026.Cultivate a workplace safety culture across all levels of the Prysmian business through coaching, training, and leadership.Compliance: Ensure compliance with the Oceania compliance register and integrate new business acquisition compliance register.
Workers Compensation and Injury Management: Manage workers' compensation claims, provide premium projections, and ensure effective injury management systems.
Leadership:
Provide leadership, support and strategic direction to the business unit HSE team to ensure the team supports the organisation in the achievement of its HSE objectives. Support to include assessing and provide relevant training.Keep abreast of industry trends on HSE regulation, ensuring proactive business planning to these requirements.Ensure sites are escalating and managing incidents within specific time frames.Requirements
Skills and Competencies: Strong understanding of legislation, strategic and change management, analytical and systems auditing skills, stakeholder management, and leadership.Experience: 10+ years in HSE, preferably in high-risk industries or FMCG manufacturing, with a proven track record of improving safety culture.Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or a relevant discipline. HSE Auditing Certificate preferred.Why Join Us?
