Summary You will serve as a Supervisory Oceanographer, Director in the Ocean Collections Division, Ocean Projects Department, Naval Oceanographic Office, Stennis Space Center, MS. . Responsibilities You will direct a staff of scientists and engineers to provide technical advice, including comprehensive marine survey tasks for acoustic, terrain, sub-bottom, and water column properties as they relate to Fleet sensor performance. You will review all projects assigned to the organization; establishes production plans and assigns work to subordinate supervisors according to workload and project type. You will direct and manage the preparation of plans, schedules, and survey operations to acquire complex environmental information from multiple remote sensor systems required for the Department’s overall undersea warfare support mission. You will participates with the Department Director in formulating scientific and administrative policy. You will assure that all survey data collected, processed, and analyzed by the subordinates is completed, validated, and thoroughly checked. You will direct the staffing, scheduling, and fielding of military surveys or field operations. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience using the concepts, theories, principles, and practices of oceanography in order to plan, manage, review and assume technical responsibility for functions of the organization.; experience performing a wide variety of oceanographic applications software; standards, policies, and design approaches; multiple high-level programming languages; and oceanographic work processes and terminology.; experience in problems confronting military operations in shallow-water areas and the ability to resolve these problems in terms of appropriate environmental survey and publication products.
