Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose:
The Optical Connectivity Solutions (OCS) strategy project manager is responsible for leading or participating in strategy projects, competitive intelligence related projects, government affairs related analyses, facilitating strategic processes for division and assisting the division’s VP Strategy for division initiatives.
The strategy projects are functional strategy projects or ad-hoc business projects and typically involve interaction with leadership teams of multiple functions of OCS and COC.  Competitive Intelligence related projects include competitor cost benchmarking which requires robust modeling capabilities with enhanced understanding of financial costing.  Government affairs related analyses are mostly trade data research.  The strategic processes of OCS include KPI program reviews, xMatrix program reviews and division scorecard updates and involve regular interactions with the OCS leadership team. 

 

Key Responsibilities:
•    Lead or participate in strategic projects related to functional strategy, GA initiative and CI 
•    Develop and continuously improve competitor cost modeling
•    Own and drive monthly status updates to the scorecard as well as xMatrix and KPI tracker
•    Support the long term strategy planning processes
•    Support the OCS General Manager and VP of Strategy in executive communications

 

Required Qualifications:
•    MBA with relevant experience for at least 10 years
•    Project management, including superior problem-solving skills 
•    Strong analytical skills with a large data sets and affinity for rigor; able to distill data to a key insight 
•    Able to manage through systems; designs practices, processes and procedures to ensure quality and consistency of results 
•    Outstanding presentation and communication skills (verbal, written & presentation) 
•    Demonstrated ability to work within matrixed team structure across multiple functions, time zones and cultures 
•    Independent self-starter, taking initiative to resolve issues and identify opportunities 
•    Aptitude towards understanding customer needs (internal or external) and translating into customer requirements 
•    Business and financial acumen 
•    Action and results oriented, personally and through others
•    Organizational agility - creates alignment and action plans to support strategies and recommendations

The range for this position is $126,366.00 - $173,753.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
