Offal Technician - 3rd

PAY: $25/hour
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday (9:00 PM – 5:30 PM) Saturday (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM)
BENEFITS: Available first day of hire
 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, sanitation, and housekeeping of the Offal department. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

                                    

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:                              

Must be able to complete work orders and PMs as assigned.Must be able to obtain regular punctual attendance.Must be able to complete various record keeping and monitoring tasksMust be able to load offal trailers to the correct weight and ensure that they are properly drained.Must perform ground maintenance and sanitation as assignedMust be able to perform basic mechanical repairs or installation workAbility to work different shifts as needed.Work with rendering truck drivers to coordinate load schedulingAssist the Wastewater operators in various activitiesMust be able to drive a semi-truck, pull, hook up to, and back semi-trailersMust be able to perform all duties in operation of the offal and wastewater treatment processMust be able to complete PM’s for the offal and wastewater processMust be able to complete sanitation of the offal and wastewater processMust be able to pump blood from the plant to offalMust understand and be able to perform storm water managementMust be able to complete environmental monitoring tasksMust be able to paint and complete grounds maintenanceMust monitor department water usageMust be able to repair pumps, motors, gearboxes, and augersMust have basic electrical troubleshooting knowledgeCommunicate with supervision and other plant employeesAbility to work cooperatively with supervisors, coworkersDo all tasks assigned by members of managementMust be able to follow directions and work in other departments as needed.At times will be required to perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalentOffal experience preferred but not required.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Fluency in the English language (written and verbal).Basic understanding and the ability to follow Environmental regulationsBasic understanding and the ability to follow OSHA regulationsMust be able to work weekends and extended shifts.Ability to communicate effectively.Ability to read and write English.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

Follow departmental and company safety policies and programsMust wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Frequently climbs steps and ladders.

Ability to work in extremely hot, cold and/or wet environments for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift 50 pounds

Ability to work while bending, stooping, or squatting

Ability to use shovel, rakes and pitchforks for extended periods of time.
