Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Military and Family Readiness Center Shaw AFB. Responsibilities Uses computer to produce a variety of documents. Transmits and receives documents and messages electronically using computer or workstation that is networked or linked to other computers throughout the work area or organization. Types, correspondence, reports, forms, messages, memoranda, statistical or tabular material, where spacing arrangements are complicated, directly in final form without a rough draft. Arranges the material in the form necessitated by the nature of the subject matter, the purpose for which it is to be used, the format required by regulations, style manuals or policy. Performs a variety of general office duties such as receiving telephone calls and visitors, routing and filing correspondence, and maintaining tiles Assess Transition Assistance Program documents and place service members in tiers based on results from tier assessments. Contact workshop/seminar participants via email and/or telephone prior to class start to confirm attendance. Create and update TAP related workshops in database system, then update attendance after conclusion of Pre-Separation Counseling, TAP Workshop, Veterans Benefits briefings, Capstone, and to­day GPS tracks. Update client checklist on DD Form 2648 in Mil Connect after completion of the Pre-Separation Counseling and after completion of the TAP Workshop. Maintain accountability statistics for the TAP program in the authorized system. Use this data to develop charts, logs, and summaries as directed by Military and Family Readiness Center Chief and/or TAP Manager. Provide daily sign-up sheets for TAP Workshops/classes, and update client information in AFFIRST upon completion. Schedule and communicate with customers for TAP related workshops/classes via telephone and/or email. Assist TAP manager with issuing and collecting government laptops for customer use during classroom instructional purposes. Also assist with setting up classroom for scheduled TAP related workshops/classes and track all formal/informal customers visits and telephone calls in AFFIRST daily. Qualifying Experience: Be competent in operating personal computer systems, Microsoft Office Products and familiar with Internet data bases. Be skilled in typing and working with a variety of office equipment. Have the ability to locate, assemble and compose information for routine reports, inquiries and non-technical correspondence. Basic communication skills are essential for dealing with Military & Family Readiness Center staff and customers. Should have a basis understanding of military protocol, support group organizations, family systems in a military setting, and possess the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse population. Required to dress appropriately for a professional atmosphere. Possess the ability to plan, organize work and meet deadlines. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy. Be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Maintain work area in a neat and orderly manner and compliance with privacy act information. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
