Summary About the position: This position is located at the Youth Center on RAF Lakenheath. Responsibilities Performs primarily substantive clerical work in support of technical administrative management and operational requirements of the Youth Program Center to include the School Age, Open Recreation, Teen and Youth Sports Program. Promptly receives, greets, and answers questions from visitors and telephone calls. Establishes, updates, and maintains office records of various types that may be needed for efficient operation of the facility. Typical duties include maintaining records; receiving, screening, reviewing, and verifying documents; searching for and compiling information and data; providing a central source of information; preparing and/or verifying the validity of documents, etc. Serves as primary point of contact (POC) for enrollments and monitoring of the on-line waiting list through the Military Child Care (MCC) website. Uses multiple office automatic software systems to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and revising existing databases or spreadsheets. Provides information about the organization, functions, events, activities, and personnel. Maintains front desk registry sheets for all visiting Child and Youth Program patrons and visitors. Refers visitors to proper personnel or rooms. May serve as POC for programs such as Give Parents a Break and Respite care in absence of Child and Youth Programs Director. May assist with breaks and school transportation during periods of staff shortfalls due to leave and unforeseen absences. Accepts applications for Dept of Defense Child Care Fees, Air Force Youth Flight Program Patron Registration, and Youth Flight Medication Permission forms. Enrolls, registers, manages, updates, and maintains family accounts in CYPBMS. Assists parents in completing instructional and sports enrollment forms. Maintains a waiting list and notifies applicants when a vacancy occurs. Greets patrons and helps children transition to assigned youth activity group. Monitors surveillance system IAW Youth Center procedures. Remains alert to detect early signs of distress, abnormal behaviors, or suspected illness or disease in children. Collects fees, posts payments to patron's account, and follows up on past due accounts. Assists with ordering and distributing supplies, planning events, arranging meetings or appointments. As required, opens and closes facility and supports augmented hours at the School Age Program as needed. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Applicant must have experience in responsible clerical or office work in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily at the grade level of the position. Typing skill is desirable. Must be able to lift 40lbs or more and stand for prolonged periods of time. Must pass a physical examination and have required immunizations. Ability to satisfactorily perform typing duties. Knowledge of word processing techniques. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
