Job Summary

 

Under general supervision, to perform work providing support as a Liaison for referrals into Methodist Hospital System, for all specialties. Managing referrals, greeting and registering patients by obtaining demographics, financial information, insurance information and necessary signatures on required forms and documents for physician office visits. Works closely with providers offices to coordinate patient appointments by providing excellent customer service. The Office Liaison will also work closely with the Business Growth and Development Liaison from a Marketing perspective to identify growth opportunities as Methodist expands geographically.

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

Assists in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards applicable to areas of responsibility as required by accreditation bodies.

Assists patients with check-in and check-out process, and prepares medical records for physician visit.

Directs telephone calls and messages to appropriate persons, provides customer service as needed.

Initiates scheduling process for referrals/clinic patients. Verifies financial information and insurance coverages.

Tracking patients progress as determined by the provider.

Obtain prior authorizations for procedures and medications.

Travel may be required, and is reimbursable, per annual mileage log, for coverage to other locations or for Marketing purposes, on as add needed basis.

Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.

 

Qualifications

Job Specific (Minimum Qualifications)

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to apply medical terminology as it relates to patient visit and future appointments.

Good computer skills and the ability to operate basic office equipment.

Demonstrated good analytical skills.

Demonstrated positive attitude, professional courtesy and compassionate customer service to patients.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to diffuse a stressful situation tactfully and professionally, and the ability to make good decisions in a stressful situation.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment, and to multi-task.

Prior work as a Certified Medical Assistant is preferred but not required.

 

Education

High School Diploma/GED is Required

 

Experience

2 years of experience in Healthcare/Medical-Physician’s Office is Preferred.
