Employment Type: Permanent Staff (EHRA NF) Vacancy ID: NF0008866 Salary Range: Dependent on Qualifications Position Summary/Description: The University of North Carolina ( UNC Chapel Hill) is seeking an experienced manager and grant writer to serve as Associate Director of the Office of Research Development ( ORD ). The Associate Director will advance the scope and efficacy of interdisciplinary research and scholarship across the university by serving as operational lead in support of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Development, ensuring efficient operations of a busy research support office, and assisting in the creation of strategic marketing materials and internal data sets. Along with or as delegated by the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research, the position chairs internal review research committees, meets with faculty, deans, directors and department chairpersons regarding strategic planning for research directions facilitates the development of major interdisciplinary research grant applications, and has delegated responsibility for several pan-university internal funding programs, and oversight of the limited submissions internal review process. This role involves facilitating the recognition and prestige of Carolina’s faculty through university-nominated grants and emphasizing service through research by engaging with Carolina’s leading scholars. The Associate Director also has the primary responsibility of managing day-to-day office operations, including supervising, and coordinating a high-performing team and marshaling resources to support the overall mission and goals of the Office. This position will work in close collaboration with the cross-functional units that support the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research. Education and Experience: * 5 or more years of experience in research development and/or grants administration preferred Essential Skills: * Experience with consortium and other large grant funding mechanisms * Experience with supervision of direct reports and administration of a research development office * Able to work independently and develop networks with campus researchers * Superb written and oral communication skills * Ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines AA/EEO Statement: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.
