The individual primarily provides support to other staff in the department by performing routine administrative, deposit preparation, mail and basic departmental activities. Placing focus on the preparation of documents related to cash posting. Position is an in office position located in downtown Portland working Monday- Friday.

Function/Duties of Position

Processes daily mail from both the post office and OHSU interdepartmental delivered via courier and distributes to staff across the OHSU PB department.

Prepares daily deposits for two OHSU service areas.

Retrieves explanation of benefits from payer websites and prepares both payment and denial batches for entry into the Epic platform.  

Reviews and assigns electronically received correspondence to office and department staff within set turnaround parameters. 

Weekly prepare and mail out refund checks once printed for both patient and insurance companies.

Scanning of documents including payment batches, follow up batches, and refund checks into the Onbase archive application for all departments at OHSU PB.

Required Qualifications One year of general office or secretarial experience, ANDAn Associate’s degree or certificate in office occupations or office technology; OR A Bachelor’s degree and six months of general office or secretarial experience; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience.

Medical terminology Accurate data entry skills Excellent organizational skills Ability to use reason and logic to solve problems and multi-task as needed Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Basic office equipment knowledge including scanning. Experience with using software such as word, excel.Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation Preferred Qualifications Minimum one year in the medical fieldWith mail room experienceEpic platform experience Additional Details

In downtown office. Work schedule is flexible hours between 5:00 am until 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Continuous sitting, walking frequently between desk and office equipment, reaching and moving documents.
