POSITION SUMMARY:
The Officer, Emergency Response is capable to respond and provide immediate management of emergencies including medical, fire and other facility incident. He / She provides basic emergency first aid service to staffs and customers, fire and rescue response and determination and prevention of safety hazards. He/ She will also assist the Supervisor or the delegate authority in the completion of other tasks as assigned to them as required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Adheres to and promotes fire safety and health and safety requirements. Actively participates in health and safety activities to ensure that workplace hazards and minimized and the health and safety of all employees is valued.
2. Delivers timely, effective and best practice emergency response service to staff, contractors, and patrons in 24hr/7 day environment, on a rotating shift basis.
3. Liaises with Supervisor, Emergency Response on a shift by shift basis and assists them through the delivery of prompt emergency response or request for assistance as required.
4. Assists in health and safety surveillance programs and other programs relative to employee health and well-being, in line with legislative and company/ property requirements.
5. Provides basic life support and emergency first aid service to patient and properly endorsed to Occupational Health Services personnel;
6. Responds and performs fire suppressions and rescue;
7. Conducts prevention actions, determination and report of safety hazards;
8. Conducts periodic checks and ensures good working conditions of inventory, equipment and supplies;
9. Conducts inspections of all evacuation/exit areas and reports safety issues;
10. Submission of reports and informing notable incidents to immediate superior;
11. Uses cultural awareness and understanding whilst maintaining effective standards of written and verbal communication with staff, customers and external agencies.
12. Adheres to and promotes property Emergency Response and safety requirements. Actively participates in health and safety activities to ensure that workplace hazards are minimized and the health and safety of all employees is valued.
13. Performs other tasks assigned by the Supervisor/s.
QUALIFICATIONS:
I. Experience
1. Relevant industry experience including responding and managing of emergencies.
2. Experience in handling and treating of patient and operating medical equipment and supplies at a pre-hospital setting.
3. Experience in fire suppression and basic operation of fire and rescue equipment.
4. Training qualifications an advantage.
II. Education
1. Tertiary Level preferred
2. Certificate of competency or courses on First Aid, BLS-CPR, Fire Safety and Rescue Operation or higher
III. Skills / Competencies
1. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Proficiency in English Language
4. Training qualifications relating to Emergency and Disaster Management is an advantage.
5. Knowledge on Fire Prevention, Suppression and Rescue Operations is an advantage.
6. Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of specialized medical, firefighting and rescue equipment.
