Job title: Environmental Officer – Air Quality Monitoring

Position reports to: Environmental Manager
Direct reports: Environmental Specialist, Monitoring & Data
Grade: 15
Purpose
To perform sound air quality monitoring activities and general environmental management of the site following the Company’s Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and regulations about health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
Take a leadership role in the ongoing development and implementation of the Air Management Plan.Actively drive all environmental air quality monitoring at KMP.To compile and maintain emissions-related records for regulatory compliance.Set annual and monthly air quality monitoring management targets.Ensure suitable quality control measures are implemented and constantly monitor and check the quality of all aspects of the Kansanshi Air Monitoring Plan.Ensure all air quality field tests and air quality impact analyses are conducted.Ensure all air quality monitoring equipment is well maintained and suitably calibrated to deliver the highest quality.Draft procedures to respond to identified air quality monitoring and quality needs.Conduct periodic environmental air quality risk assessments in communities downwind of the Smelter complex.Liaise with other departments to ensure that all air quality impacts are well communicated.Take a leadership role at the Smelter complex to ensure compliance with various regulatory permits and licensing conditions.Highlight all environmental non-compliances and bring them to the attention of the Smelter and Environmental Managers.Participate in the general implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) on site.Perform any other duties as and when assigned by the Supervisor.Qualifications
Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s DegreeProfessional Qualification: University Degree in the field of Environmental Engineering/Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field.Experience
