Job title: Environmental Officer – Mine Site Rehabilitation

Position reports to: Environmental Coordinator - Biodiversity & Rehabilitation
Direct reports: ESG Manager
Purpose
To perform sound mine site land rehabilitation activities by the Company’s Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
The holder of this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and regulations about health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
Take a leadership role in the ongoing development and implementation of the Kansanshi Rehabilitation Management Plan.Actively drive mine site rehabilitation planning by identifying areas that need to be rehabilitated and post-rehabilitation management.Set annual and monthly rehabilitation targets.Develop and track rehabilitation Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Monitor and establish topsoil sources and inventories on an ongoing basis. Explore opportunities to generate compost within the mine area.Mapping and spatial planning: - Continually survey and map areas that need to be and those that have been rehabilitated and ascertain conditions. Ensure that the KMP spatial database is up to date. continually monitor for erosion or sedimentation of environmentally sensitive areas.Manage all contractors and staff working on rehabilitation at Kansanshi.Ensure you are up to date with the latest rehabilitation technologies, techniques, and methods to improve the success and efficiency of all aspects of rehabilitation.Establish a nursery to propagate indigenous plants for rehabilitation.Produce monthly rehabilitation reports with the following information: - Total areas rehabilitated, total areas not rehabilitated, the condition and location of areas previously rehabilitated, Activities completed in the reporting period, Key Performance Indicators, Updated status of all rehabilitated areas, Planning for the next month's activitiesAny other duties as directed by the Superior empowered to exercise authority over him/her.Qualifications
Minimum Qualification: Grade 12 School CertificateProfessional Qualification: BSc. Degree in a relevant natural resources management field such as Forestry, Agroforestry, Agricultural, Ecology and Natural Resources from a recognized institutionExperience
2 years preferably in the mining-related environmentBEHAVIOURAL TRAITS
Ability to manage own work properly with minimum supervisionOPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
