Requisition ID: req56463 Job Title: ONA Case Manager Intern Sector: Education Employment Category: Intern Employment Type: Part-Time Open to Expatriates: No Location: New York, NY RAI USA Work Arrangement:Hybrid Job Description SCOPE OF WORK: The International Rescue Committee (IRC), works in the United States welcomes newly arrived refugees and immigrants, supports them in their resettlement, and provides holistic services to help them build new lives in their communities. The ONA Case Manager intern is an intern position to support the Adult Education Department with career development programs and referrals. As an intern, you will support IRC students enrolled in the online English Language classes to reach goals they set for themselves. Under the Opportunity for New American’s Program, the English Language classes, case management support, and career services at IRC will ensure that participants are connected to outside services. The intern will also assist in several administrative tasks related to ONA grant and database management. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the field of case management and/or social service work with immigrants and refugees. RESPONSIBILITIES: In this position, the intern will support the Case Manager with tasks related to case management for clients enrolled in the online Adult Education English language courses. The intern will create action plans, identify additional services needed, and monitor progress towards the goal with individual students. A ddition a lly , the intern will support the Adult Education Supervisor with several a dministrative tasks related to ESL enrollment, database management, and complying with ONA grant requirements. + Manage a caseload of 90 students through one-on-one meetings outside of class time + Maintain detailed case notes and spreadsheets to track client meetings and progress + Research referral options and opportunities in NYC + Gain an understanding of IRC services to refer students to. + Assist with class enrollment and other administrative tasks related to the ONA grant + Facilitate and/or co-facilitate Adult Education program orientations and workshops + Adhere to IRC policies, particularly those related to confidentiality and client privacy + Provide supportive services to clients from multiple backgrounds and varying •English language levels . LEARNING OBJECTIVES : + Intern will learn how to provide direct case management services to immigrant and refugee populations. + Intern will learn how to manage and record student data, meeting notes, and contact referral partners . + Intern will learn about the ONA grant requirement and how to prepare data for funder site visits. REQUIREMENTS: + Based in the US with US work authorization + Enrolled in post-secondary institution or have graduated from a post-secondary institution within the last 2 years + Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) + Must be willing to work varied hours in a hybrid setting. + Fluent in English, both spoken and written; bilingual ability preferred, preferably in Spanish, French, Arabic, Dari/Farsi, and/or Russian. + Ideal candidate will have experience working with immigrants or refugees in a social service setting.
