CVP is seeking a Oncology Data Specialist / Certified Tumor Registrar to join our growing team and support healthcare transformation within the Veterans Health Administration. This is an opportunity for a Certified Cancer Registrar to provide innovative support in the areas of Program and Project Management and Integration, Improvement and Change Management, Data and Analyses, Training, Strategic Communications and Implementation, Supply Chain, Financial Management Modernization, and Policy Support.

 

The Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) will perform tasks which ensure strategic and coordinated data systems management, accuracy, and integrity of data, and reporting of data to internal and external stakeholders.

 

Tasks may include the following:

Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reports.Establish, maintain, and update databases and records for recurring internal reports.Recommend and implement new operating methods to improve data flow, collection, editing, processing and distribution.Ensure data integrity of high-level data analysis. Responsibilities Conduct records maintenance, including submission of complete case abstract.Conduct timely case ascertainment and accession to VHA approved software.Conduct data curation and abstraction into VHA approved cancer registry database software.Meet reporting requirements of State Central Cancer Registry, the American College of Surgeon's Commission on Cancer, and the VA Central Cancer Registry.Maintain CTR credentials through the National Cancer Registrar's Association (NCRA).Provide evidence of monthly continuing education conducted by national standard setters, including but not limited to North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR), NCRA, SEER.Maintain patient and records confidentiality in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974, complying with the terms of VA computer access security agreement, and other applicable government security regulations.Provide reports at the request of participating facilities to aid the organization with Quality Improvement/Process Improvement activities as applicable.Complete applicable “physician TNM staging” fields at the time of case ascertainment and/or case completion.Comply with all guidelines governing the accepted standard of registry operations, to include the Commission on Cancer, AJCC, National Cancer Institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results Program, NAACCR, World Health Organization's International Classification of Diseases for Oncology, and current and historic editions as applicable to diagnosis year. Qualifications Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance.Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.Five (5) years or more of relevant professional experience.A strong dedication to high quality work and integrity of data.Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credentials.Strong analytical skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills.Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.Proficient with MS Office. 

Desired Skills

Knowledge of Department of Veterans Affairs databases and datasets.
