Job Title: Oncology Medical Director, International
Location: Germany with 50% international travel
Position Summary:
Shape the future of cancer care globally as an Oncology Medical Director at Natera. In this strategic leadership role, you will provide medical expertise for Natera's oncology portfolio, working to educate and develop relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), researchers, patient advocates, healthcare professionals, and payer and industry stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with Natera’s medical affairs, commercial, research, and market access teams to advance the clinical adoption of ctDNA testing into medical practice and realize the full potential of Natera’s oncology products globally.
Primary Responsibilities:
Medical Education and Communication: Become fully versed in Natera’s technology and deliver presentations as a clinical/scientific expert to KOLs, researchers and lab directors, patient and professional organizations, private and public payers, local authorities, etc. Oversee medical education and scientific communication for healthcare providers on Natera's oncology offerings. Partner with the international commercial and market access teams, as well as Natera’s distribution partners, to develop and deliver compelling medical messages, execute growth strategies, and help achieve regional targets for Natera's oncology products. Serve as the primary clinical resource and medical expert to Natera’s international commercial, market access, and marketing teams. Representation and Advocacy: Represent Natera at medical conferences and industry events, both in person and virtually. Develop, maintain, and manage relationships with KOLs from the oncology community and other relevant healthcare professionals. Generate content for and participate as a Natera expert and facilitator in medical advisory boards and other key internal and external meetings as necessary. Clinical Development and Research: Lead the development and implementation of clinical strategies for Natera's oncology products. Provide input on evidence generation activities and partner with medical affairs and clinical operations colleagues on assessing and executing international studies. Collaborate with research and development teams on clinical trial design, data analysis, and publication.Key Skill Sets / Responsibilities:
Broad expertise across the oncology spectrum, with an understanding of practice guidelines and the ability to speak to major solid tumor histologies and indications. Stay updated on the latest advancements in various cancer types and translate this knowledge into actionable insights for Natera’s oncology products. Passion or interest in MRD/ctDNA and its adoption in clinical practice. Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including commercial, market access, medical affairs, and research, to drive the success of oncology initiatives. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the clinical relevance and adoption of Natera’s oncology solutions. Develop and/or leverage your KOL network internationally, as well as relationships with key stakeholders at local and international societies.Qualifications:
M.D. or D.O. degree with board certification in Oncology required. At least 5 years of experience in oncology, with a strong clinical background. Experience partnering with or working in the industry is a plus. Associate/Full Medical Director designation commensurate with experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to quickly learn Natera’s technology and that of our competitors, understanding the strengths and limitations of each, and articulate strong customer value propositions. Comfortable working in a complex, results-driven, and fast-changing environment. Effective written and oral communication skills, with strong persuasive abilities, quick thinking, and the ability to translate study data into clinical practice. Excellent and demonstrated relationship-building skills with international medical experts. Project management skills, with the ability to balance and execute multiple projects simultaneously. Proven team player, capable of participating as a member of cross-disciplinary teams. Ability to manage conflict with poise in a diverse environment. Knowledge of clinical trial methodology, regulatory, and compliance requirements preferred. Experience with launching international diagnostics (evidence generation, reimbursement activities) highly valued. KOL network across EMEA, as well as relationships with key stakeholders in ESMO, ASCO, and other relevant societies, highly valued. Languages: Fluent in English. Other languages highly valued, especially major European ones such as German, French, etc.Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Duties are typically performed in an office setting. This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone and by video conferencing, and read printed material. Residence near a major European airport is preferred. Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
