The Therapy Area Medical Head for Oncology is a critical role to lead Medical Asset Leads as they contribute to the development of global, regional and country specific Medical Affairs plans and execute them whilst ensuring Medical governance and compliance for oncology related activities in Germany. Job Purpose Reporting into the Vice President and Country Medical Director, Germany, the Oncology Medical Head will provide overall leadership for Oncology Medical Affairs activities in Germany, including: Development and effective deployment of the Oncology MSL team Lead the strategic input into global and regional Medical strategy development, informed by customer insights and voice of the customer Translation of global and regional medical plans into country level tactics and their execution Medical governance and compliance oversight for Oncology focused Medical activities and leading the application of the code of practice in the Oncology Medical team. Key Responsibilities: The responsibilities listed below outline the scope of the position. The application of these tasks may vary, based upon evolving business needs. Ensure the provision of scientific, clinical, and medical content expertise in Germany through leadership of the Medical Asset Leads Lead the Field Medical Director, ensuring MSL focus on priority activities in line with global and local strategy, assessing performance and providing ongoing coaching and development Ensure close partnership within Global and Regional Medical Affairs to develop Oncology Medical strategy and execute plans locally Ensure the provision of strategic input into global medical planning around areas of customer need Manage all country level Oncology Medical activities within their designated scope, schedule, and resources Support evidence generation by ensuring robust evidence gap analysis, input to global Integrated Evidence Plans and Execution of the local evidence plan Drive unwavering compliant work practices and support safe, ethical, appropriate use of research compounds and products. Establish and maintain a supportive partnership with country commercial colleagues Basic Qualifications Physician, Pharmacist or PhD with strong experience of oncology therapy area Experience in a leadership role within medical affairs In country product launch experience In country product life cycle experience Experience in commercial or clinical development Above country medical affairs experience A demonstrated understanding of German healthcare environment, including knowledge of health technology assessments and market access challenges Understanding of Pharmaceutical ethics and governance; and a clear understanding of pharmaceutical compliance policies and procedures Financial and budget management experience Prior experience with commercial product launches and expanded access program in country and ideally above country. Prior experience with commercial and/or government payers. Preferred Qualifications Robust understanding of internal and external codes of practice and regulations (certification where applicable) Demonstrated matrix leadership in previous roles with ability to build strong networks, manage complexity and cultural diversity. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects, budgets and interactions simultaneously. Ability to thrive in a fast paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. Outstanding listening, communication & collaborative team working and leadership skills, as the role involves interface with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally. General understanding of statistics, safety, regulatory requirements. Skilled at simultaneous consideration of scientific data and practical healthcare delivery needs from diverse health systems to optimise medical implementation of innovation. Why GSK?
