ONCOLOGY NURSE EDUCATOR (RN)

Summary

Position Summary: Under limited supervision, designs, develops, implements and evaluates education programs based upon adult learning principles for a clinical service line. Adheres to the ANA Nursing Professional Development Scope and Standards. Utilizes and applies organizational policies and procedures. Provides service line support and supervision for staff. Supports hospital wide education programs in addition to service line initiatives.   Essential Functions: Educator Role: Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates educational activities based upon the needs of the staff, unit, division and organizational priorities. Leader Role: Participates in and provides for professional development activities. Change Agent Role: Facilitates and serves as a change agent: The position will support continued hardwiring processes to improve organizational metrics, clinical effectiveness, and patient satisfaction in their assigned sphere of responsibility. Clinical Role: The Education Specialist and Nursing Leadership are partners in leading the nursing clinical practice area. Assists in coordinating and guiding clinical activities of nurses within a practice area. Facilitates the critical thinking skills of clinic. Consultant Role: Organizes, develops work plans and facilitates projects to focus on educational initiatives in department and system wide for oncology service line.

Qualifications/Requirements: 

Seasoned professional knowledge; equivalent to a Master's degree; knowledge in more than one discipline BS in Nursing (BSN) required, Master's required. Previous education/teaching experience preferred. OCN certification required or willing to sit for exam upon hire. 3-5 years related experience  Maryland Registered Nurse License American Heart Association CPR Certification
