Job Description
Pipeline Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) are vital members of the affiliate medical department, primarily interacting with investigators in priority 1 and, to a lesser extent, priority 2 sponsored studies. These field-based roles focus on communicating AbbVie's investigational product information in a scientific, non-promotional manner while adhering to legal and regulatory standards. MSLs aim to build AbbVie’s scientific credibility by engaging with clinical investigators and scientific institutions, supporting research, and facilitating medical information requests. They closely collaborate with Site Management & Monitoring staff in clinical study processes and interact with various medical department members, ensuring a high level of scientific knowledge and effective external stakeholder communication.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate clinical research and trials with AbbVie drugs and support medical and scientific information requests;Establish relationships with Site Management & Monitoring staff to support AbbVie-led clinical trials;Maintain credible relationships with investigators by providing scientific leadership;Consult with medical professionals to support clinical trial site referrals;Act as contact for thought leaders to facilitate AbbVie pipeline studies and support requests;Deliver presentations on disease areas and AbbVie’s pipeline;Identify qualified external experts for collaborative efforts;Pursue R&D collaborations with key institutions and leaders;Gather field intelligence and communicate insights within the company;Attend scientific meetings and conferences;Assist with requests for medicine access on compassionate grounds;Provide insights into clinical practice and input on AbbVie’s pipeline development;Ensure compliance with all legal and company standards;Provide scientific input to study teams and assist in responding to off-label information requests;Interact with various AbbVie medical personnel, market access teams, global medical affairs, healthcare personnel, research investigators, institutions, and regulatory authorities.Qualifications
Advanced degree in a scientific discipline preferred, but relevant experience considered;Experience in developing and maintaining expert knowledge for Oncology, and in medical research in general;Professional experience as MSL or CRA or in a similar field-based R&D role for at least one years. Ideally in Oncology and/or hematology;Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of Medical Affairs to advance the medical and scientific objectives of a pharmaceutical company;Demonstrated expertise in the scientific methods applied to clinical research and current legislative/regulatory controls applicable to this research;Strong communication and relationship-building skills;A good understanding of written and oral English is desirable;High customer orientation;Strong commitment to compliance with the relevant rules and procedures, and to scientific quality and integrity
Additional Information
This role is primarily field-based, requiring approximately 75% travel. The individual should be located in São Paulo, Brazil.
