VCA Veterinary Emergency Service & Veterinary Specialty Center is expanding its Pet CancerCare Center and is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician for our Medical Oncology Services!
Medical Oncology:
Our multidisciplinary oncology team designs an individualized treatment plan for each pet patient using the most advanced and effective treatments available—much like those used in human medicine. Even better, today’s cancer treatments are often much quicker with far fewer side effects, so pets remain comfortable and happy throughout treatment.
Job Overview: As a CVT in our Medical Oncology department, you will play a crucial role in assisting our Oncologist with the diagnosis and treatment of oncology patients. You will ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety, while maintaining compassionate communication with pet owners.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in consultations, examinations, and chemotherapy administration.Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies, and treatment areas.Monitor patients during and after procedures, noting changes in behavior or vital signs.Collect, process, and submit laboratory samples.Administer medications and perform diagnostic imaging (e.g., radiographs, US, CT).Provide client education on treatment plans, medication administration, and home care.Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.Collaborate with the veterinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care.Uphold safety protocols for handling cytotoxic drugs and ensure proper disposal.Total Rewards:
