The Veterinary Science department is seeking to hire an online Clinical Site Coordinator/ Advisor to support the academic and professional development of students in the online AAS program.
Under the supervision of the Dean and Program Director, the Internship Coordinator uses independent analysis and judgement to develop, coordinate, and supervise complex and varied administrative tasks in order to provide exemplary applied learning opportunities to the online Veterinary Technician AAS program. The position encompasses three distinct areas of responsibility-- preceptorship (AAS) development and coordination, Instruction/ assistance with courses associated with these applied learning opportunities, and advisement of online AAS students.
Duties will include:
a. Develop policy and maintain criteria for ensuring the academic quality and integrity of internships/preceptorships.
b. Working with other departments and offices (ie Business Office) across campus, incorporate college-wide standards, practices and policies and assist with evaluation and assessment of applied learning in veterinary science
c. Compiling and maintaining a database of external partners (veterinary practices, research institutions, zoos, government agencies, etc.) for AAS preceptorships and BS internships locations for students to use when looking for sites and for purpose of tracking.
d. Maintain and revise Veterinary Science internship policies and procedures
e. Maintain veterinary science internship manuals and promotional materials and update as needed
f. Maintain and update Online Delhi (D2L) and program website site info for internship information.
g. Identify, develop and monitor current internship sites
h. As possible, conduct initial site visits (in conjunction with appropriate faculty) to evaluate appropriateness and relevance of internships for students
i. Ensure site compliance as far as established department criteria, SLO's, AVMA required Essential Skills, and Trajecsys.
j. Serve as or assist primary instructor for VETS 198 (Preceptorship Prep) and preceptorship courses and will be responsible for collection of data from VETS 183, 203 and 450 for courses for assessment.
k. Assisting students with internship preparation through the development and delivery of concentrated development seminars including resume writing, interviewing techniques, and organizational research, etc.
l. Serve as academic advisor for online AAS students as assigned by Program Director or Dean.
m. Assisting with applied learning marketing, including website updates, supporting job postings, writing for publications, and social media for the Veterinary Science Department
n. Assisting with reports pertaining to applied learning to be utilized in assessment of internship effectiveness for AVMA accreditation, program reviews and grant applications
o. Serve on department or campus committees as directed by Program Director and Dean
p. Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Dean
Job Requirements:
+ Three or more years of relevant experience
+ Understanding of applied learning
+ Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
+ Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity
+ Time management and organizational skills and be
+ Ability to operate in an online environment
+ Strong written and oral communication skills
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office
+ Self-starter with strong problem solving/analytical skills
+ Demonstrated marketing and social media advertising skills
*Note- The professional obligation for this position requires the employee be available during normal business hours and occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in related field
+ License eligibility as a veterinary technician (LVT, CVT, RVT)
+ Five or more years of relevant experience, assessment of student outcomes, and/or academic advisement
Additional Information:
+ Salary: $55,151
+ Budget Title: Staff Assistant, SL-3
+ Reports to: Dean of Veterinary and Professional Studies
+ Obligation: 12 months, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, M-F, full time remote or in person
+ Travel requirement: Occasional clinical site visits (5%)
