Job Description
The function of this position is to serve as the litigation analyst for the Risk Management Section. This position is responsible for activities pertaining to civil processes against the Michigan State Police (MSP) and its members, providing research, analysis and reference support as well as civil process coordination. The incumbent is a liaison to the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, other agencies, and organizations coordinating civil litigation for the MSP and/or its members. The incumbent collects and maintains data necessary for courts, civil process, civil litigation, subpoenas, FOIA requests, and litigation discovery requests. This position is required to perform duties in a bias free manner.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is a full-service policing agency with statewide jurisdiction, providing over 60 different services either directly to Michigan residents or in support of other law enforcement agencies. The MSP personnel most visible to the public are the uniform troopers whose primary responsibilities include traffic enforcement, crime prevention and investigation, and community engagement and service.

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
