About the Role:
Banyan Global is assembling a bench of short and long-term technical experts for upcoming opportunities. Consultants will provide technical and advisory services to design and carry out monitoring, evaluation, collaborating, learning, and adapting (MECLA) tasks that support program cycle implementation, as well as bolster the capacity of donor and partner staff to apply improved MECLA practices. Tasks will be wide ranging and may include work related to:
Building and using evidence for decision-making;Making evidence more accessible and timely for internal and external users;Broadening and testing new and promising approaches for monitoring, evaluation and collaborating, learning and adapting (MECLA) in international development programs;Developing MECLA capacity of donor staff, partners, and local organizations;Strengthen organizational learning and knowledge management processes and practice; andLearn and adapt efforts as the organizational and programmatic context changesThis call is open to applicants from all countries; assignments are contingent on funding.
ResponsibilitiesIllustrative Assignments:
Provide technical leadership or support to evaluations, assessments, or other research, including developing methodologies and data collection instruments, overseeing and/or participating in data collection and analysis, and analyzing, reporting on, and disseminating findings, conclusions, and recommendations.Provide technical assistance to clients and implementing partners in developing MEL frameworks.Support coordination of the integration of practices that support knowledge capture and transfer, collaboration, learning and knowledge sharing, and adaptive management.Lead or support the design and delivery of capacity strengthening initiatives, including in-person or virtual training, coaching, and mentoring initiatives and/or the development of toolkits and reference guides.Lead or support the development of or improvements to client or stakeholder knowledge management systems and/or processes. Qualifications Education: Candidates must have an undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant field. Master’s degree or PhD a plus.Training: Formal training in MEL, social science research, or related field a plus.Excellent writing and communication skills in English required.Ability to work independently, with strong attention to detail, and follow through on time in a fast-paced environment.Experience delivering MEL technical assistance in international settings, with expertise in at least one of the following technical areas:Geospatial data collection, analysis and production of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapsData visualizationData collection and analysis, including coding, to inform decision-makingApplied political economy analysisEnvironmental compliance, including developing environmental mitigation monitoring plans and how to conduct compliance site visitsTraining and capacity-building in MECLA, including with local organizationsDesigning, conducting, and managing performance evaluations and assessmentsDesigning, conducting, and managing impact evaluationsPerformance monitoringDevelopmental evaluationsCollaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) and other learning approachesCost benefit and cost effectiveness analysisEvaluation synthesisCountry and regional strategic planningKnowledge management and the use of monitoring and evaluation evidenceThird party and remote monitoringProduction of high-quality learning productsKnowledge management and organizational learningHuman-centered designFamiliarity with USAID MEL and CLA policies and practices highly preferred.Willingness to travel for assignments preferred.
