The Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute and Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology in the Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio invite applications for an open rank tenure-track faculty position. Individuals holding a Ph.D. and/or MD with an outstanding record of innovative research and academic performance, and with demonstrated expertise in areas of research that address developmental and/or physiological aspects of pediatric cancer biology, including but not limited to metabolic reprogramming, neural/mesenchymal stem/stromal cell relationships in pediatric brain tumors, pediatric sarcomas or neuroblastoma are encouraged to apply.  We also welcome applications from individuals who study adult cancers but are committed to the development of a pediatric cancer research program in the near future. Candidates are expected to be competitive for a faculty recruitment award from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (https://www.cprit.texas.gov/grants-funded/cprit-scholars). The successful candidate will receive a highly competitive start-up package and state-of-the-art laboratory space and will be expected to establish or maintain a vigorous externally funded program, provide exemplary mentorship, and engage in productive scientific collaborations. Suitable candidates may be nominated for faculty recruitment awards from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas and the UT System Faculty STARs Program. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers at the GCCRI and will be expected to develop collaborative programs and serve as mentors for students and research fellows.

The GCCRI is a unique cancer research center focusing on basic and translational research in childhood cancer and is housed in a state-of-the-art 100,000 sq. foot research facility on the Greehey Academic and Research Campus of UTHSCSA and supported by an endowment from the tobacco settlement from the State of Texas.
