Binghamton University's Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Decker School of Nursing, located at the newly renovated, state-of-the art health sciences campus in Johnson City, New York, is hiring for its Innovative Simulation and Practice Center (ISPC). The ISPC is the only accredited simulation program in Upstate New York and the SUNY system. Faculty in the ISPC facilitate student learning and engagement through the use of the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice. The position encompasses teaching, innovation, and clinically-driven scholarship.
Responsibilities include:
+ Instruction and guidance to undergraduate nursing students in classroom, clinical, lab practice, and/or simulation setting.
+ Demonstrate effective skills and best practices for facilitating and debriefing simulation experiences.
+ Development, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of simulation and lab experiences.
+ Development and implementation of metrics and assessment tools.
+ Clear communication with students on ISPC expectations.
+ Clear communication regarding student performance with the Assistant Director of the ISPC, undergraduate simulation lead, and appropriate clinical faculty.
+ Coordination of ISPC activities, student rosters between ISPC, clinical faculty, and the undergraduate nursing program.
+ Role model professional behavior for students.
+ Remain current with nursing best practices, general educational, and simulation curricular advances.
+ Participation in faculty governance.
+ Advising and mentoring students.
+ Engage in Program and University committees as appropriate.
The candidate will be assigned based on area of expertise, contribute to advising and mentoring students, and engage in Program and University committees as appropriate.
Faculty rank and salary are dependent upon the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
+ Master's Degree in Nursing or related health professions degree
+ Unencumbered nursing license in NY and/or PA required.
+ Two or more years' clinical experience in one or more specialty areas: acute care medical-surgical, mental health/psych, community health, geriatrics, maternal-child, pediatrics.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Matriculation in a doctoral program or an earned doctorate from an accredited university
+ Previous teaching experience.
+ Certification in healthcare simulation education.
