The University of South Carolina seeks exceptionally qualified applicants for an Open Rank, 9-month appointment in STEM Education to begin Fall 2025. The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to the use of curriculum that is culturally responsive to all students.
Responsibilities of the successful candidate include: (a) teaching both undergraduate and graduate education, mathematics education, science education, and STEM education courses; (b) delivering K – 12 transdisciplinary STE M problem-based education content and pedagogy; © engaging in curriculum development and research in Middle Level and STEM education; (d) connecting and developing partnerships with local schools; and (e) supporting the service needs of the Middle Level Education and the EdD in Educational Practice and Innovation with a concentration in STEM Education programs; the department of Teacher Education, and the College of Education.
Advertised Salary Range: Salary is competitive commensurate with experience.
Advertised Minimum Qualifications :
Candidates must have earned a PhD or EdD in Mathematics Education, Science Education, Curriculum and Instruction, STEM Education, or a related field. Experience with online teaching/learning platforms (e.g., Blackboard, Zoom) with the ability to incorporate innovative pedagogies around school- and community-based learning and professional development is required. Candidates must have excellent teaching skills, the ability to mentor teacher candidates and doctoral students; evidence of a continued record of research/scholarly productivity, professional development, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues.
Three years of experience working with pre-adolescents/adolescents and/or teacher education candidates in schools that serve students from underserved and underrepresented communities is required. Prior experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students is required.
