About You and This Role:
Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Operating Technician in Seadrift, Texas.
The purpose of the Operating Technician role is to utilize chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience, along with operating procedures, operating discipline, and work processes, to proactively operate the plant in a safe, reliable, and optimal manner. The shift works in a team environment to operate the plant and troubleshoot unplanned events, then effectively escalate any issues that cannot be resolved to the appropriate support roles. The successful candidate for this Operating Technician role will be part of a 12-hour rotating shift based team and is expected to complete structured training plans in a responsible and timely manner to achieve job qualification. The applicant must be self-motivated and have the ability to work effectively in an empowered environment where individuals are required to set priorities and complete work activities with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
Follow Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areasOperate and field check process equipmentMonitor process conditions, equipment and control systemsPerform tasks assigned to operations as per a standard task list including field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.Ensure operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goalsUse troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems and maintain equipment reliabilityInitiate and participate in Root Cause Investigations as requiredCoach and train others on plant operationsPerform immediate response activities and manage unplanned eventsUse process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating DisciplineUse measurements and tools to operate the Plant at optimum conditionsPerform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplinesManage multiple and complex plant computer control systemsPerform all duties with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.Operator a forklift/fork truck.Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent AND one of the following is required. An Associates degree or higher in Process Technology (or related degree) OR 3 or more years of relevant military experience in lieu of a degree. OR 3 or more years of experience as an Operations Technician in a Chemical, Oil and Gas or Manufacturing environment.Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts.Must be able to work overtime as needed.Must be able to work night and weekends as required.Must have a current, valid US drivers license.A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
