Context

Veolia has been awarded an Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contract for Turkey's first and one of Europe's largest waste-to-energy plants in Istanbul, operated by İSTAÇ (Subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality). This groundbreaking facility processes approximately 1.1 million tonnes of non-recyclable household waste annually, generating at least 560,000 MWh of electricity - enough to power 1.4 million homes in the metropolis. The project marks a significant step in Turkey's journey towards carbon neutrality by 2053, reducing carbon emissions by nearly 1.5 million tonnes per year. Under this O&M contract, Veolia is responsible for the entire operations and maintenance of the plant, ensuring compliance with stringent European Union environmental standards while improving energy efficiency. This project showcases a commitment to sustainable waste management and energy production, setting a new benchmark for the region and contributing to Istanbul's ecological transformation.

Main Accountabilities

The Operation Manager is directly responsible for the personnel and activities of the plant
operations departments and is cooperatively accountable with other management personnel for maintaining continued operation of the facility in compliance with established safety
regulations and procedures, federal and state environmental regulations, production
