The Data Management Lead is responsible for building, implementing, and supporting the Air Products Operations Process Data Historian infrastructure, globally. This infrastructure provides business critical historical data access across Air Products global fleet of industrial gases facilities. This position will be located at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, PA and will report into the Operational Excellence (OpEx) team and will provide needed support across projects for both Air Products fully Owned and Operated plants as well as consultancy to Joint Venture operating plants.
As a member of the OpEx HQ team, the Data Management Lead will be responsible for the design, implementation and support of Air Products manufacturing information systems. The facilities range across multiple technologies such as Air Separation (ASU), traditional and low carbon intensity Hydrogen and CO production (Grey, Blue and Green HYCO), Gasification, Syngas Purification and Helium.
The position emphasizes teamwork, communications, change management and technical skills with a customer service focus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safety:
Maintain a safe work environment and proper documentation required for safety related activities.
Be a champion of Air Products safety culture.
Technical and Operations:
Develop solutions with various combinations of platforms to serve our operations and business needs regarding operations compliance & scheduling, enterprise historian solutions, facilities energy monitoring/management, reporting (batch, shift, and environmental), and machinery/equipment reliability.
Support data integration into a centralized historian infrastructure from multiple automation platforms (Siemens, ABB, Honeywell, Rockwell, Emerson) including tag maintenance (new site startup and site DCS replacement), server and application troubleshooting, server capacity planning and scheduled application and system patching.
Responsible for understanding and recommending best practices for system architecture and design. Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in data management, historians, data lakes, and reporting. Collaborate with OpEx teams on advanced control architecture design, implementation and escalation consultancy.
Primary point of contact for product support, critical business escalation and setting strategic goals with product suppliers
Lead and write proposals with support of internal resources for proof of concepts, project executions, training, maintenance and support agreements, upgrades, etc.
Provide data use application expertise for Digital Technology and business user applications that access the process data historians. Provide trigger configuration and support for Event Management applications.
Support project execution as the technical lead in all phases of the project life cycle – conceptual design through operation handover including acceptance tests, deployment, and post-deployment support. Coordinate necessary resources, Digital Technology, vendor, plant and process control in order to successfully complete projects.
Work with Digital Technology, cyber security architects, vendors, Process Automation Technology managers and plant support personnel to develop a system hardware and software upgrades multi-year roadmap. Test application upgrades/enhancements in development environment and ensure system is fully operational following upgrades.
Maintain critical documentation including versions, configuration requirements and licensing requirements. Maintain the long-term license requirements to meet operations and new plant demands.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Requirements:
Associate degree.
5+years managing Automation, Manufacturing Information Systems or large-scale Operations.
