Job Summary

Operational Excellence Engineer (OpEx Engineer) partners with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance departments to lead quick and effective resolutions to quality and delivery gaps that impact GKN Cromwell’s ability to meet business & customers’ needs. The individual in this position must be highly motivated and must be able to drive urgency across the team.  The position will oversee a cross functional problem-solving team combining advanced problem solving tools with engineered countermeasures to deliver quick turn engineering solutions to problems.   The individual may be required to travel to GKN suppliers to assist with supplier quality or delivery issues. The individual must be comfortable using both quantitative data as well as qualitative measures to drive decisions and validate impacts of improvement projects.

Job Responsibilities Lead a team of cross-functional problem solvers across multiple value streams. Utilize structured practical problem-solving methods to identify root causes of performance gaps, test various countermeasures, implement countermeasures, and measure performance and impact of countermeasures. Recommend and implement short and long-term countermeasures to problems. Utilize data to determine the root causes of problems and to measure the impact of any counter measures. Provide problem-solving training to the cross-functional team (as needed). Perform all other related duties as assigned. Job Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 3-5 years’ experience in a problem solving role Black Belt a plus

Essential Requirements

MUST BE U.S Citizen or Permanent Resident. Systematic and analytical approach to problem solving. Understanding of Lean and Practical Problem Solving methods. Excellent project and change management skills. Ability to learn and apply new concepts and overcome obstacles with change. Aptitude for facilitating teams and/or improvement activities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Visio, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work within a diverse environment and a variety of individuals at all levels.
